A family member who attended the meeting said the site is frequently used by the donor’s great-great-granddaughter. "My daughter Olivia goes there five days a week, typically for two to three hours," the family member said, voicing enthusiastic support for the location.
Staff showed commissioners a photo of the proposed bench location and a sample ground-mounted plaque. Staff noted the fiscal impact on the city would be minimal because the donor pays for the bench and plaque; staff performs the installation. The commission approved the donation 6-0.
