Senate adopts resolution praising Taiwan and urging support for international participation

At a session of the Senate, members adopted Senate Resolution 24-04 commending Taiwan’s pandemic response and asking for support for Taiwan’s participation in international organizations.
The resolution was introduced and sponsored from the floor and moved for adoption by the floor leader. Senator Bobta described Taiwan as a “leader in world, technology with their microchip industry, which is second to none,” and credited Taiwan with an early organized medical response to COVID-19. “They walk the talk,” Bobta said, asking colleagues for support for the resolution.
Clerk and counsel were asked to correct a typographical error in the draft on page 3, line 10 (a director’s name), and the clerk indicated they could make the correction as a technical amendment. The chair put the adoption to a voice vote. “All in favor say aye,” the president said; the motion carried and “Senate Resolution number 24-04 is hereby adopted,” the record shows.
The action was recorded as a floor motion, seconded and approved by voice vote. No additional committee referral or further formal action on the resolution was recorded during the session.
