The Kenner City Council approved an agreement with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) for the westbound resurfacing of Vintage Drive from Duncan Canal to Powell Boulevard (state project H.016392, federal aid H016392).
Mayor Mark Glazer thanked staff for securing federal funding and said the westbound project is a companion to an eastbound resurfacing previously funded. He said design work for the westbound segment will begin in two to three months if the council approved the agreement, and that completion of design does not mean immediate construction.
Council members asked staff about the city’s cost share. A staff response referenced a 20% local match obligation, but council members requested a clearer dollar breakdown; a specific city dollar amount was not provided in the hearing record.
Council members also thanked staff and the mayor for securing funds and said the area had long needed resurfacing and striping. The council voted 7‑0 to approve the agreement; staff said design will begin within months but construction timing depends on federal project schedules and bidding.
