The Transbay Joint Powers Authority welcomed Charlie Lavery at its May meeting following his appointment by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to fill the board's supervisor representative seat.
Lavery told the board he has a long history with the project, including participation at the original groundbreaking and work negotiating the project labor agreement. "I wouldn't say that I can hit the ground sprinting here, but certainly familiar with most aspects of the project," Lavery said, adding he has served multiple terms on the Citizens Advisory Council and the JAC and that his priorities include infrastructure and equity.
Board members and staff thanked Lavery for his service and noted his role in advocacy for the portal. The executive director noted Lavery's work as co‑chair of the Proposition L campaign that extended San Francisco's half‑cent transportation sales tax, which benefits the portal project.
Ending: Board members said they look forward to Lavery's participation in upcoming portal milestones and community engagements.
