Duchesne County commissioners approve permits, appointments, payroll and business license

Duchesne County commissioners on May 5 approved a set of routine and agendaed items including approach permits, library board reappointments, a support-letter ratification for a special services district, a business license for an oil-and-gas inspection firm, payroll and volunteer approvals.
The commission voted to approve two driveway/approach permits with a condition that applicants contact the county about an on-site pipeline, and subject to standard distance checks. A motion to approve the approach permits passed by voice vote; commissioners indicated unanimous support during roll call.
The commission reappointed Amy Snow and Catherine Crainboat to the library board. Commissioner Judd moved and Commissioner Killian seconded the reappointments; the motion passed on an affirmative voice vote.
The board ratified a previously signed support letter for the Cedar View Model Special Services District, which the county clerk said had been signed earlier and was now being formally ratified. The motion to ratify was moved and seconded and carried.
The commission approved a county business license for a firm that inspects and repairs pressure vessels and oil-and-gas facilities. Staff said the operation is the same owners and location as a prior business that had closed; the license was approved following a brief presentation by staff.
Payroll for the pay period ending April 26, 2025, covering 213 employees and totaling $803,002.35, was approved following routine questions about reserve jail staffing. The commission also approved the minutes from the April 22, 2025 meeting and a slate of volunteers presented by staff.
Action on the hospital-board nominating committee was discussed but deferred; commissioners asked staff to contact prospective nominees and return with names.
