Planning board denies land-use compliance for proposed expansion of donation-bin locations

The Monroe City Planning Board on Monday denied land-use and transportation plan compliance for a proposed zoning text amendment that would expand where clothing and donation bins can be located in the city, and authorized staff to prepare a resolution reflecting that denial.

The amendment, presented by Megan Breithart of the planning department, would add language to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Section 7.5 — accessory uses and accessory structures — to allow donation bins in additional zoning districts beyond the current General Business designation. Planning staff recommended adding Neighborhood Business but opposed allowing Community Corridor Mixed Use, Regional Corridor Mixed Use and Conditional Districts.
