The Contractors State License Board (CSLB) executive committee on April 11 received progress reports on three information-technology projects intended to speed licensing and modernize back-office workflows, and heard public recommendations to build anti-fraud and hardship-response capabilities into the IT roadmap.
Registrar David DeVoe and IT staff briefed the committee on the initial phase of a project to automate original contractor-license applications for sole proprietors, a planned enterprise document management system (EDMS) to replace the board’s existing imaging platform, and broader enforcement-modernization work. Mike Collins, an IT manager, said the sole-owner online application — built with SimpliGov — will guide applicants through an interview-style form, accept uploads and e-signatures, and accept online payments.
