Conklin asked the commissioners to “please ask the city council members to 0 out the extra millage that's placed on the Gateway 7, which happens to be coincidental to the area of the CRA.” He added, “TIF, the tax increment funding could easily replace that extra millage rate that they are paying. I'll yield back.”
Commissioners approved consent-agenda items 1 and 2 on a voice/roll-call motion. The clerk called the roll after the motion; Commissioners Anderson, Andreiou, Fadgen, Horland, Reinstein and Sordle recorded votes in the affirmative.
Conklin framed his request as an equity issue for property owners in Gateway 7 and said the tax-increment financing (TIF) mechanism could substitute for the extra millage revenue. The CRA took no formal action on Conklin's request during the meeting; the transcript records the comment as part of the public-requests portion of the agenda rather than a motion or directive to staff.
