ISD 196 board approves higher community facility rental fees for 2025-26
Summary

Kya Bruce, presenting on behalf of community education, said the district conducted a market fee study in March comparing facility rental rates with neighboring districts and concluded the changes would help cover higher costs for building supervision, facility scheduling and shared athletic equipment. Bruce said the adjustments also are intended to keep rates aligned with inflation and to make field/grounds application deadlines fit the district-wide scheduling timeline.
"To ensure our rates remain competitive and equitable, we conducted a market fee study in March comparing our facility rental rates to those of neighboring districts," Bruce said. "The results indicated that our current proposed adjustments for the 2025–26 school year are intended to account for increased costs associated with facility scheduling, building supervision and collaborative purchases of athletic equipment used by the community."
Motion and vote: Board member Jackie moved approval; board member Katherine seconded. Chairperson Johnson called the vote; the motion carried by a 7–0 roll call.
What passed: The board approved the proposed facility use fee increases for indoor spaces in class 2, class 3 and class 4, effective July 1 (2025–26 school year), and endorsed the proposed revision to the application due dates for fields and grounds to align with district scheduling.
Ending: The change was approved during the meeting’s old-business action items and will be implemented for the 2025–26 school year; administration did not present line-item dollar amounts during the public discussion at the meeting (they appear in the board packet).
