Council accepts city manager evaluation and approves market adjustment plus 3% COLA effective July 1

The Mankato City Council approved the city manager's performance evaluation and authorized a pay adjustment consisting of a market adjustment and a 3% cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) effective July 1.
Council Member Lavin summarized the closed work-session evaluation, saying the council's scoring matrix placed the city manager generally above average and "exceeding the performance standard." Lavin said the rating made the city manager eligible for the compensation adjustment. "Based on that performance and evaluation, that does make the city manager eligible for an increase that would go into effect of July 1," Lavin said.
A motion to accept the evaluation and approve the pay adjustment was moved and seconded; the motion passed on roll-call vote. Council members praised the city manager's responsiveness and statewide recognition; council remarks noted that Arns recently received the Barrett Award from peers in city management.
The approved adjustment will be processed consistent with personnel procedures and take effect on the stated date.
