NATCHITOCHES, La. — The board meeting opened with the superintendent recognizing a junior-high softball team that won a state championship. Staff and coaches introduced the players and described the season’s accomplishments.
Athletic staff said the team entered a state tournament played at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, defeated the two-time defending champion Bayou Chico Junior High and won the final game 3–2. The coach said pitcher Addie McGrath struck out 12 batters in the title game. The team finished the season with a 25‑20 record and outscored opponents 230 to 50, the coach reported. The superintendent and board members congratulated the players and coaches and invited them for a photo at the front of the room.
