Jeffries Elementary staff and students presented a school showcase featuring student interviews, highlights of school counseling achievements (an ASCA-certified counselor and RAMP recognition), and classroom projects. School presenters said the school’s enrollment was 651 students that morning and emphasized family atmosphere and staff dedication.
Superintendent Ballinger and principals announced monthly attendance awards: Hilda J. Barber Elementary (elementary winner, April attendance 94.36 percent), Warren County Middle School (secondary winner, April average daily attendance cited as 96.1 percent in remarks), and AS Roach (most improved; April attendance 93.59 percent, up 1.21 percentage points). Speakers described efforts by staff and families to improve attendance.
The board recognized participants in the WCPS 101 program, a multi-session initiative to introduce community members to district operations. Several participants spoke about learning more about special education, transportation, finance, facilities, and career-technical programs; multiple attendees recommended the program to other parents.
