GREEN RIVER, Utah — The Green River City Council voted to reassign an existing $500 budget line from volleyball to girls' softball to support a locally run, city-sponsored youth program for the coming season.
Councilmember Lonnie introduced the item, saying the $500 should be sufficient this first year to purchase shirts and cover initial local costs. She said the league would be local-only this first season and that travel or expanded costs might require additional budget in future years.
Motion and vote: Councilmember Lonnie moved to approve the funding switch; a second was recorded and the council approved the transfer by roll call. Recorded yes votes in the transcript included Larry and Ben; the motion passed unanimously among those present.
Ending: Staff said the funds will be transferred administratively from the existing sports line and the council may revisit budget levels if the program expands in future years.
