San Francisco planning director Rich Hillis announces plan to step down later this year

San Francisco Planning Director Rich Hillis announced at the May 15 Planning Commission meeting that he plans to depart his role in the coming months after roughly 20 years working for the city, including five years as director.

Commissioners offered public appreciation. Commissioner Braun thanked Hillis for his years of service; Vice President Moore, Commissioner Imperial, Commissioner Williams, Commissioner McGarry and others spoke about Hillis’ contributions to the department and the city. Hillis said he planned to stay for approximately a year before leaving the post and joked about future plans.
