The Elko County School District Board of Trustees voted to authorize staff to go out to bid for the district’s annual asphalt maintenance and approved routine consent and payment items during the meeting.
Facilities staff reported the 2025 asphalt program will target several sites, including Adobe, Liberty Peak, Grammar, Northside, Sage, Southside and Ruby Valley. The presenter said last year’s contract was about $391,000 and the district budgeted roughly $400,000 for this year’s work.
A board member moved to grant permission to solicit bids; the motion carried after a voice vote. There was no extended debate on the asphalt item.
On consent and finance items, the board approved the consent agenda without comment. Trustees also approved accounts payable and a second accounts-payable batch that included a reimbursement for a trustee’s travel; the trustee (Durham) disclosed the expense and abstained from that vote. Chair and other trustees voted to approve the payments.
Presenters and trustees noted that routine procurement and payment approvals enable continuing maintenance and operations across the district’s schools. The board did not award any contracts at the meeting; staff were instructed to return with bids and vendor recommendations when procurement is complete.
