Committee members reported that Sawyer County ATV trails opened May 1, with the exception of trail segments within the Flambeau River State Forest.
Kathy (reporting) said she attended the first statewide Ride Expo in Oshkosh, an industry event organized by the Wisconsin ATV Association that featured tourism entities, law enforcement and vendors. She said the expo drew widespread participation and organizers hope to make it an annual event.
On non‑motorized trails, officials noted that registrations for the Brookie (LWC Lumberjacks) are open and that organized bike and running races are scheduled for the season. A committee member said the Brookie already has about 2,000 racers signed up for next February’s event.
Members said ATV ride routes on county roads will be presented for annual renewal at the May public works meeting and that no issues are anticipated if law enforcement reports remain agreeable.
