Council approves state-contract purchase of Romer Park restroom and playground equipment

Carlos, who presented the items, said the CXT restroom cost under the state contract is about $105,036.50 for the unit plus roughly $5,000 for final hookups, for an approximate total of about $110,000 (speaker figures were presented in the meeting). He said the restroom will be placed after underground utilities are prepared; staff confirmed the sewer and water stubs will be in place prior to delivery and installation. The restroom plan does not include a shower; the unit will have toilet and sink fixtures and an exterior hose bib as shown on the manufacturer plan.
Carlos also presented a playground-equipment quote under state contract for $63,579.06. Staff said the playground equipment and restroom are part of the Phase 3 Romer Park project budget, which includes grant funding (a ramp grant and other project funds). Staff said the state contract route avoids contractor markup and, after market checks, provided price comparisons showing state-contract pricing was favorable.
Council members moved and approved both purchases by voice vote. Staff will coordinate delivery and contractor hookups and integrate equipment arrival into the park construction schedule.
Why it matters: Purchasing through state contract is intended to lower acquisition costs and permit timely delivery for the park’s Phase 3 construction schedule.
