Council members discussed and then moved to adopt an ordinance amending the town ordinance that establishes the time and place of regular meetings and a companion resolution adjusting the 2025 meeting schedule to account for Juneteenth.
A council member read ordinance and resolution numbers into the record and explained the change: when a scheduled meeting falls on a federal holiday (Juneteenth), the ordinance allows the council to move the meeting to Wednesday, Thursday or Friday at its discretion. For 2025, the Juneteenth meeting will not be held on Thursday, June 19; the council agreed the meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 18, with a budget meeting before the regular meeting at 5:30 p.m.
"I move that we pass ordinance number 2025-05-15 an ordinance amending our ordinance adopted 09/02/1982 for establishing a time and place for the holding of regular meetings," a council member said in the recorded motion. Another member moved to adopt the related resolution amending the 2025 meeting schedule.
The transcript records council members saying they seconded and answered "yes" on the recorded vote. A council member asked staff to remind members of the changed date and the related budget meeting time. The transcript shows the motions were carried during the meeting.
