Public commenter says Bluff earned International Dark Sky designation; town staff to coordinate announcement

Sarah Burack, speaking during the public-comment period, said, "we received word last Friday that we have received dark sky designation for Bluff as a community." Burack asked staff to coordinate the public announcement and noted the association provided parameters for timing and content.
Town Manager Erin Nelson and other staff said they would work with Burack and volunteer Diana Davidson on a public statement and noted the association requested about a 10-day lead time before public release. Nelson said the town has a communications intern starting and that staff would pull together the announcement and post it on the town website when the timing is finalized.
Council members applauded the news during the meeting and asked staff to confirm coordination details and a publication date that meets the association's requested lead time. No formal council action was required or taken at the May 13 meeting; staff will return with a proposed release schedule and copy for council review.
