Council members discussed a recently awarded State of Utah playground grant of about $165,000 and next steps for contracting and local oversight.
Town Manager Erin Nelson said the state contract is boilerplate and will be routed to council for approval; she highlighted one clause requiring grantees to certify they are not engaged in an economic boycott of Israel. Nelson said the contract term extends through Sept. 30, 2027, giving the town additional time to complete work and staging a likely vote at the next council meeting.
Members emphasized the need for bylaws and clarified oversight responsibilities for a new or active playground committee. Nelson told the council she would place the state contract on the council agenda for a vote and recommended developing committee bylaws and clear staff support rules to manage cash-match requirements and contract deadlines.
Ending
Staff will circulate the State of Utah contract to councilors, place it on the next meeting agenda for approval, and draft bylaws and committee expectations for council review.
