Dr. Alexander said the change responds to rising fuel and vehicle maintenance costs and is part of broader strategic work to support recruitment and retention.
The policy motion was made by John Cochran and seconded by Jimmy Dale; board members voted in favor and the motion carried.
Board members also reviewed Section 1 policy edits recommended by Jennifer from the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA). The changes were described as minor rewordings. The board moved to postpone additional monitoring of policy 2.702 after finding that wording still required correction and scheduled the item for the January meeting so the monitorable language can be revised.
