Greene County election board readies for May 20 municipal election; L&A testing completed

The board approved Douglas Murray as custodian of elections; approved Election Day rovers to assist the custodian (listed in the record as Brad Hartman, Lauren Chambers, Alex Flanagan, Mike Adams and George Skolt); and approved a canvassing board that included Mary Dohanich, Sandra Hogue, Lorraine Rush and Nicole Whipkey, with other members to be appointed by the election board.
Officials said public logic-and-accuracy testing took place on May 13 in the Commission Conference Room. The transcript records that both parties' county chairs attended the testing and indicated satisfaction with the results. Supplies and materials for polling locations were checked and marked ready.
Key election dates noted during the meeting: May 6 was the last day to register or change voting status; May 13 was the last day to submit an application for a mail-in or absentee ballot; mail-in and absentee ballots must be returned or received by the elections office by 8 p.m. on May 20, the municipal election day.
Director Cannon also said the office will assist voters with mobility limitations: after receiving a mailed ballot, voters with walking restrictions may bring the ballot to the elections office and staff will retrieve it from the vehicle to accept it.
The election board approved minutes from November 2024 and recessed to await subsequent meetings.
