Tulsa declines to renew rights as private bike‑share operator ceases operations; city to assume bike‑rack ownership

A city staff representative said the company has stopped operating and the city will take over care and maintenance of existing racks, installing city marking and logos where needed. "Tulsa Bikeshare Inc has ceased its operations. The city of Tulsa is gonna take the ownership of these bike racks," a city project manager told the committee.
Staff said a small number of racks already required removal because of damage or collisions; the immediate step is administrative: revoke the occupancy permit so the city can assume responsibility and begin maintenance. The city will not assume ownership of bicycles; only the fixed racks and kiosks sited in the right of way are part of the revocation.
Committee members discussed the role of infrastructure and timing — noting the original bike‑share launch coincided with scooter rollouts and that network and safety considerations affect ridership and operator success. No vote was taken; staff characterized the item as housekeeping to transfer responsibility to the city and preserve publicly installed infrastructure.
