WOBURN โ At its May 20 meeting the School Committee received a report from the Finance and Personnel subcommittee and approved grant-transfer and warrant motions the subcommittee recommended.
Vice Chair Chisholm summarized a subcommittee vote (3โ0) recommending fiscal-year 2025 grant adjustments to apply federal grant funds intended for out-of-district special education tuition and related consulting. In the subcommittee report a staff member described an initial request to move $800,000 from a Fiscal Year 2025 special education tuition line to a special education consulting line; the report also described a $750,000 carryover adjustment intended for fiscal 2026 tuition. The administration recommended completing the transfers and noted coordination with city finance officials.
The full committee approved the transfers by voice vote. Chisholm said the transfers were discussed at length with the city and an agreement had been reached.
The committee also approved three warrants presented by the subcommittee: Warrant 2 for $49,922.51 and Warrant 3 for $1,435,848.49 were stated aloud; Warrant 1 was included in the packet and approved. The committee approved the warrants by voice vote.
The subcommittee reported personnel actions: an interim assistant principal role at the Joyce Middle School, appointments of Alyssa Allen as assistant principal and Amanda Williams as the Goodyear assistant principal, and other staffing confirmations. The committee recognized the hires and adjourned that subcommittee meeting.
The motions reported and approved at the full meeting were procedural fiscal and personnel follow-ups; the committee did not alter the subcommittee recommendations during the floor vote.
