Taylor City Council calls June 7 runoff for District 4 race

The Taylor City Council unanimously adopted a resolution calling a runoff election for the District 4 city council seat on June 7, 2025, after staff reported no candidate received the majority required by the city charter.
City staff member Miss Aldridge told the council that in District 4 "no candidate received more than 50% of the total votes cast, which is the majority required by the charter," and identified Marie Bloomer and Heather Long as the two candidates who received the highest number of votes. Staff said early voting would run from Tuesday, May 27 through Tuesday, June 3, with the main location at Taylor City Hall.
Council Member Garcia moved to approve Resolution R25-10; Council Member Redden seconded. The chair called for the voice vote and members responded "Aye." The motion carried with unanimous assent.
The resolution sets the runoff for Saturday, June 7, 2025, and staff indicated a separate resolution will be provided to formally order and administer the runoff. No changes to polling locations beyond the main location at Taylor City Hall were recorded during the meeting.
