Taylor City Council certifies May 3 election results and administers oath to Greg Redden

City staff member Miss Aldridge presented the canvas, telling the council the election "was held to elect 1 council member from District 1 and 1 from District 4, each to serve a 3 year term ending May of 2028," and explaining that under the city charter "a candidate must receive a majority of the votes cast, meaning more than 50% of the total votes in that race." Staff read vote totals for District 1 before the council voted to adopt the canvass resolution.
The council approved Resolution R25-09 by voice vote; Mayor (unnamed) and council members voiced assent and the chair declared the vote "Unanimous." After the canvass, Judge Will Ward administered the oath: Council Member Greg Redden repeated, "I, Greg Redden, do solemnly swear or affirm . . . that I will faithfully execute the duties of the office of Council Member, District 1, City of Taylor," concluding with "So help me God." Redden then took a seat at the dais.
The council also recognized outgoing Council Member Gerald Anderson "for his 6 years on the city council." City staff handled the formalities immediately after the canvass and oath; no further debate was recorded on the canvass resolution.
