Clay County commissioners on May 13 approved the county's acquisition of a portion of private property, plus permanent and temporary easements, for $128,201 to allow construction of roadway and stormwater improvements on the south side of County Road 315 east of the railroad tracks. The vote was 5-0.
Bonded transportation program staff said the parcel and easements are necessary to construct the segment of the bond-funded transportation project that improves County Road 315 and associated stormwater management. Ed Dendorf, Bonded Transportation Program administrator, described the purchase and asked the board to authorize the county manager to execute all documents necessary to close the acquisition.
The board opened a public hearing on the purchase; no members of the public spoke on the item. After a motion and second, commissioners voted in favor, and the clerk recorded the motion as carrying 5-0.
Next steps: staff received authority to close the acquisition and proceed with right-of-way control needed for the roadway and drainage construction.
