The Moore City Council approved Work Order No. 3 with Garver LLC for $199,800 to design improvements to the wastewater treatment plant digester building intended to address corrosion from hydrogen sulfide gas.
City staff recalled a prior project at the Headworks Building that addressed corrosion and said the Digester Building is experiencing similar hydrogen‑sulfide‑related damage to the roof and structure. Staff recommended removing the existing roofed building and replacing it with corrosion‑resistant covers over the digesters and installing odor ducts at each digester to capture odorous air directly from each tank.
Staff said designing the digester improvements now would allow the city to bid both projects simultaneously in late fall, with construction planned for the following year. When asked, staff said the design cost would be paid from the Moore Public Works Authority (MPWA) funds.
Council approved the work order in a roll call vote.
Ending: Staff said the combined procurement and later construction will be scheduled to reduce overall cost and to limit future corrosion and odor issues at the plant.
