Pendergrass City reports office move, police vehicle purchase and new city planner hire

The mayor described the office move and said some computer and internet hookups remain to be completed. "We moved the city administration office back...to across the street into the old house," the mayor said. The mayor added that the police department "will be taking over this building" and that the city planned to install a dividing wall to separate court functions from police space.
The mayor told the council the department used proceeds from the sale of older vehicles, including Dodge Challengers and a Charger, to buy the new vehicle.
The city said it is preparing a storage barn for the road department: the city is finalizing changes to the parking lot where a prefabricated barn with two garage doors will be delivered and assembled; the mayor said delivery and installation would take about two weeks. While the barn was being prepared, the city contracted a temporary storage unit to hold equipment.
The mayor introduced Rich Atkinson as the city’s newly hired planner. Atkinson addressed the council and said he looks forward to reviewing and updating the city’s codes and long‑range plans. "Happy to be here...looking forward to hoping you guys get back on track on the codes and all your current and long range," Atkinson said.
