County election staff reported a total voter turnout of 36.31 percent: 1,100 ballots cast out of 3,035 registered voters. Early voting and election-day totals were provided by precinct; officials said there were 16 provisional ballots initially, of which the county election officer recommended accepting 13 and rejecting three in accordance with state statute. The commissioners voted to accept the recommendation and to certify the provisional determinations.
Election staff explained the reasons for the rejections: ballots from voters who were not registered in the appropriate precinct and other deficiencies listed in state statute. The board also reviewed absentee and mail-ballot reconciliation issues and confirmed how missing signatures were handled where voters returned envelopes and signed at the clerk’s office prior to canvass.
After tallying the accepted provisional ballots, the board certified the election results and adjourned the canvass. The county clerk and election staff will finalize the official abstracts and election records as required by statute.
