Committee adopts corrected minutes and closed-session minutes; amendment to Rave launch phrasing approved

The Committee on Safety and Security on May 13 amended and adopted its minutes from the Feb. 11 meeting, including a correction to wording about the districts Rave emergency-notification system.

Board member Miss Evans moved to adopt the Feb. 11 minutes and then offered an amendment to correct a sentence that had read that the Rave system —would launch on February 17,— which in the minutes appeared to present a future date. Evans asked staff to clarify whether February 17 was the systems launch or the districts planned districtwide —go-live— date. Staff said the system launch occurred earlier and that Feb. 17 was the go-live date for districtwide availability, and Evans proposed changing the sentence to read that —the system would officially launch.—

Miss Gordon seconded the amendment. The committee voiced the amendment and then voted to adopt the amended minutes. Later, the committee also moved and adopted the closed-session minutes from Feb. 11; Miss Evans moved and Miss Gordon seconded that motion as well. Committee members expressed no recorded opposition during the roll calls presented in the meeting. The chair paused the public-minute vote while the amendment was discussed and then resumed and completed the vote once the amendment had been approved.
