District recognizes college signees and National History Day winners headed to nationals

The board recognized student athletes from Prairie High School and Battle Ground High School who signed letters of intent to compete at colleges and universities. Prairie reported 16 athletes signed in a single signing event (sports included: volleyball, football, esports, track and field, baseball, softball and dance). Named signees included Peyton Blunt (softball, Clackamas Community College), Nick Crozier (football, George Fox University), Vlad (swimming, Whitworth University), and others who will attend Clark College, Carroll College, Whitworth, George Fox, Arizona Christian, Winthrop University and other institutions.
Battle Ground High School signees included Mackenzie Wright (soccer, Montana State University Billings), Boston Walker (football, Western Oregon University), Lorelai Brown (women’s wrestling, Pacific University) and more; the board praised the signing events and student academic and athletic accomplishments.
The board also recognized two students and their teacher Beth Dowdy from a middle-school National History Day program; those students won at state and are advancing to the national competition at the University of Maryland.
CFO Michelle Scott reported that the Federal Communications Commission reviewed state audit findings involving pandemic‑era federal grant spending for devices and determined the district complied with grant requirements; Scott noted the district’s multi-year record of clean audits.
Board members congratulated students and staff and thanked families and coaches for their support.
