Board approves consent items, grading policy revision, textbook first reading and instructional waiver; all motions pass 3-0

Battle Ground School District’s Board of Directors approved multiple motions on May 12 by a 3‑0 vote of the seated board members. The votes reported at the meeting were: excusing two absent directors, adoption of the meeting agenda, approval of the consent agenda, acceptance of the first reading of a CTE agriculture textbook, approval of revisions to policy 2420 (grading and progress reports) and adoption of Resolution D25 requesting a waiver of the state’s 180‑day/1,027‑hour requirement for 2025–26.
Board members Jackie Maddox (Vice President, District 5), Debbie Johnson (Director, District 2) and Terry Tate (Director, District 4) voted yes on each recorded motion. President Mary Snidley (District 1) and Director Ted Champine (District 3) were recorded as having prearranged absences. Student representatives gave advisory “pro” votes where the meeting record notes an advisory vote.
The board’s formal recorded actions on May 12 were procedural and consistent with the agenda; no ordinance adoptions or budget appropriations were finalized at the meeting. Several of the recorded items were first readings or policy revisions, which will take effect according to board rules after the required subsequent readings and notices.
