Members of the board’s facility committee told the McPherson USD Board of Education that they have completed initial interviews with four architectural firms and plan follow-up interviews with three finalists before recommending a selection to the full board.
The committee asked architects to provide an updated facilities assessment, support for long-range facility planning and community engagement, and a clear process for translating assessments into project scopes. Committee members said they used a rubric matrix (long-range facility use matrix) to evaluate firms and performed reference checks.
The superintendent said the district expects to receive enrollment and building-utilization reports from RSP Associates in June; the district intends to combine that data with the selected architect’s assessment so the two efforts inform each other.
The committee will meet again to finalize follow-up interview dates. No architect was selected at the meeting; the committee emphasized due diligence and community research as part of the selection process.
