Board approves single-vendor bid to replace aging classroom displays

District staff told the board they issued a request for proposals for classroom technology and received a single bid from Reach Solutions (listed in the materials as the recommended vendor). The superintendent said the replacement work would be paid from capital outlay funds and that the purchase is within the district’s expected rotation budget for technology.
Staff said the RFP also included optional pricing for classroom audio systems (referred to in materials as "Redcat" systems), which the district will evaluate separately; several teachers and a small number of classrooms requested audio systems to support students who need amplification as an accommodation. The board asked about rotation intervals for classroom hardware and staff said a five-year rotation for the displays is reasonable and that other device rotations (staff laptops, middle-school devices, Chromebooks) will remain on their existing schedules.
Board members asked whether the solicitation met statutory bidding requirements; staff said the RFP was publicly posted and that the district included installation services in the evaluation because of summer workload and the need for timely installs. The board approved the recommendation by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
