A staff presenter told the McPherson USD Board of Education on May that donors have provided funds to cover senior student fees and outstanding negative lunch balances.
The presenter said Eisenhower and McPherson High School each received gifts, and that the McPherson County Community Foundation specifically supported the high school’s debate team. The presenter said donations earmarked for seniors and a group called All for Lunch will cover fees and negative lunch balances. "We have raised...more than enough to support and ensure that all of our seniors have their fees taken care of and negative lunch balances taken care of," the presenter said.
The board voted to accept the donations as presented by voice vote with no opposition.
Board members and staff thanked donors and noted the community impact of targeted gifts on students during a time of broader economic pressure on families. No dollar amounts were given in the meeting materials; the presenter said the totals will appear in the district budget as monies flow in.
The donations report was presented during the business portion of the board meeting rather than during public comment. The presenter invited questions and sought formal approval, which the board provided by voice vote.
