The Yankton School District 63-3 Board of Education approved revisions to the district’s middle- and high-school social studies curriculum guides to align with recently updated state standards.
Adam Murphy, listed on the agenda under curriculum, told the board that district resources for social studies were arriving and that the middle- and high-school curriculum guides had to be amended to include the updated "OCHEDI SAQUEEN essential understandings and standards" at the state level as noted in the meeting memo. The revised documents were presented to the board for reapproval so teachers’ course outlines reflect the state updates.
A motion to approve the presented social studies curriculum was made and seconded. The board approved the revision in a roll-call vote.
The board did not raise substantive questions during the vote; the minutes record that the motion passed by recorded “yes” votes.
