Ocala City Council approved ZON25-0005 to rezone a subject property from B-2 Community Business to B-4 General Business after a staff presentation concluding the rezoning is consistent with the comprehensive plan and compatible with surrounding land uses.
Brianna Miller, City Planner in the Growth Management Department, presented background including that the site was annexed into the city in 1975 and had a long history of commercial use. Miller said the comprehensive plan’s low-intensity future land use supports the proposed B-4 zoning and that city records show the site has been in commercial use for many years. The city engineer and staff recommended approval.
No public commenters spoke on the item. A motion to approve ZON25-0005 passed on a roll-call vote with the members recorded as voting aye: Branson, Boudreaux, Carlock, London and Lopez.
The rezoning takes effect under city procedures; development proposals will be subject to applicable site-plan and permitting requirements.
