Live Oak council certifies May 3 general election results; resolution approved 3-0

The Live Oak City Council on May 12 adopted a resolution canvassing the May 3, 2025 general election returns and declaring winners for city council places 1, 3 and 5. The council voted to approve the resolution by a 3-0 vote.

City staff read the certified vote totals into the record. For council place 1, Angela Green received 279 votes. For council place 3, the clerk read Aaron Pettis with 249 votes and Alexandra McPherson with 105 votes. For council place 5, Erin Bridal received 272 votes. The clerk also read vote totals by precinct: Precinct 4054 — 317 votes; Precinct 4055 — 179 votes; Precinct 4056 — 323 votes; Precinct 4100 — 80 votes; Precinct 4158 — 3 votes; Precinct 4185 — 3 votes.

After reading the returns, the clerk announced, "The following persons were duly elected to the respective positions shown," and named the winners as Angela Green (Place 1), the person listed for Place 3 in the resolution, and the person listed for Place 5 in the resolution. The council then moved, seconded, and voted to adopt the canvass resolution; the formal vote tally recorded on the motion was 3 yes, 0 no.

The clerk stated there were no absentee or provisional ballots to include in the canvass. No substantive public comment was offered and no further staff reports or presentations were made on the item. Following the vote the council moved on to routine reports and adjourned the special meeting.
