Committee holds 2% cost-of-living adjustment for general-schedule employees pending budget talks

The Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee on May 12 considered CR 50-2025, a resolution to amend the county salary plan for general-schedule employees (salary schedule G) to include a 2% cost-of-living adjustment effective April 6, 2025.
Budget analysis presented to the committee estimated the resolution would carry an adverse fiscal impact of approximately $1,363,711 for fiscal year 2025 because of the retroactive effective date. Administration representatives asked for a favorable recommendation but committee members said they wanted to hold the resolution while budget negotiations were ongoing.
Vice Chair Oriada moved to hold the resolution pending further budget discussions; the motion carried on a recorded vote. The resolution remains on hold while council budget negotiations continue.
