Booker T. Washington alumni, historical commission present photos and plan wall of fame

Members of the Booker T. Washington Alumni Association and the Johnson County Historical Commission provided the commissioners an update on historical preservation activities and requested assistance preserving photographs and documents.
Reverend John Warren introduced alumni members and thanked the court for allowing the association to place historical materials in the courthouse. Etta Overton Rice, who said her grandmother founded a local kindergarten in the 1940s, described donating photographs and documents to the historical society. "I have pictures that I'm going to give sent to the historical society so they will have them with my grandmother and pictures of the children that went to that school," she said.
Norma Green, a former city council member, described Booker T. Washington as a community hub for East Cleburne and said the school had played a major role in local education. A representative of the historical commission, Miss Neely, outlined the commission's plans to digitize and preserve photographs, create a potential "wall of fame" and work with the alumni association to identify display locations.
The court received the report; commissioners expressed appreciation and invited a group photo. No county spending or formal directive was recorded in the meeting text.
