At the May 8 Greenville City Council meeting members voted to amend the agenda, approve several appointments and cancel the May 19 meeting. All recorded motions passed by voice vote with no recorded dissents.
Agenda amendments: City staff reported that applicants for agenda items 3 (Happy Veil Farms rezoning) and 4 (resolution to close Grand/Grant Avenue) had requested continuances to June 12; staff further requested that item 5 (the 2025–26 annual action plan) be continued to the August 14 meeting. Council member Blackburn made a motion to amend the agenda to remove items 3, 4 and 5; Council member Les Robinson seconded and the motion passed by voice vote, recorded as “Motion passes.”
Appointments and confirmations: The council approved several board and commission appointments by voice vote: - Board of Adjustment: David Southworth was appointed (motion and approval recorded 6–0). - Housing Authority: Nola Dixon was nominated and confirmed (motion passed 6–0). - Planning and Zoning Commission: Toya Jacobs was nominated by Mayor Pro Tem Daniels and confirmed (motion passed 6–0).
