City Council ratifies firefighters’ collective bargaining agreement

The Idaho Falls City Council voted to ratify a collective bargaining agreement with Idaho Falls Firefighters Union Local 1565 after the union leadership and city negotiators reached a tentative agreement in April.
Director of Human Resources Darren Jones told the council the city negotiating team — which included the city attorney, HR manager, the fire chief and director of municipal services — and the union leadership completed bargaining and reached a tentative agreement. “The union has ratified those tentative agreements, and we’re bringing that to council tonight for ratification,” Jones said.
Paul Gray, president of the firefighters union, was present at the meeting. Council members spoke in favor of the negotiated agreement, praising the collaborative process and the relatively quick 30-day timeline for reaching an agreement.
Following a motion to ratify, the city clerk recorded the roll call: Dingman — yes; Francis — aye; Freeman — yes; Larson — yes; Bradford — aye. The motion carried.
