Bus-camera enforcement: The committee received data from the bus-camera program showing 127 verified stop-arm violations between late November and April, an average of about 20 violations per month after vendor review for false positives. The committee clarified the enforcement and revenue mechanics: a first-offense citation is $250; 75% of the fine goes to the vendor and 25% to the town. The school department said it did not incur installation costs for the camera program; the vendor installed the equipment.
Committee members noted the number of violations was higher than expected and asked about patterns and repeat offenders. The district or police department was not able to provide detailed repeat-offender statistics at the meeting but committee members said they would invite Cumberland Police to a future meeting for more detail.
