Council approves consent items including CPS Energy easements, park construction contract and other consent matters
Summary

At the May 8 meeting the San Antonio City Council approved the consent agenda, which included several items later pulled for individual consideration and votes on eminent-domain findings and construction contracts.
Council approved an ordinance authorizing the city to support CPS Energy’s acquisition of permanent easements and temporary construction easements along Wiseman Road for the Wiseman substation/transmission project and declared the project a public use and necessity (agenda item 8). Council separately approved the authorization for CPS Energy transmission easements for the Howard-to-León Creek Phase 2 transmission project that includes 18 permanent transmission easements and four temporary construction easements along a corridor beginning at the León Creek substation and crossing I-35 (agenda item 9). Both items were read into the record, members moved and seconded the motions, and the motions passed.
The consent agenda also included a contract award to Jordan Enterprise to construct improvements at Benavides Park (agenda item 6); councilmembers commented on park expansion and canopy installations. Council also approved a set of other consent items (items 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11 and 12 as noted during the meeting) after taking individual votes on several pulled items.
Speakers during the consent discussion included residents and business coalition members who testified in support of the East Corridor/South Texas Parkway initiative (item 16) and community representatives who accepted proclamations and recognitions. The full consent agenda motion was approved by council, and the pulled items were taken up and approved individually as recorded on the May 8 docket.
