The Garland Parks Foundation told the Parks and Recreation Board it will host a fundraiser at Holford Aquatic Center on May 17 to benefit Buddy League field improvements.
Jason Agiri (Park Foundation representative) said tickets are $15 for individuals and $50 for a family pack of four; raffle tickets will be sold for $5 each (one raffle prize is the first person to ride down the slide). Event hours are 1 p.m.–5 p.m., with a rain-out date of May 18; the foundation will offer a silent auction and family activities. Agiri directed interested residents to garlandparksfoundation.org for more information.
Staff said the Holford Recreation Center grand opening is the weekend before the foundation event and that the aquatic center will open to the public the following weekend (staff cited May 24 as the pool opening). Staff said the event will also serve as a staff practice and opportunity to engage volunteers; volunteers are welcome, and the foundation will accept both attendance and volunteer support.
Why it matters: The foundation plans to use proceeds to improve the Buddy League field, and board members encouraged attendance and volunteer support.
