The commission’s executive director described the overall work program as “the work of the transportation commission, and it's the work for 1 year,” and said the extra funds were state planning assistance intended to help the county advance planning tasks tied to highway safety projects. The executive director told the commission the additional $85,003.15 came after a later-than-expected notice of funds and that the commission plans to amend the overall work program in September to reflect more detailed allocations.

Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the source and duration of the funds. The executive director said the funds are state Regional Planning Assistance (RPA) funds and that she expects the additional amount to continue into the future. She also said the region would receive formal notice "sometime next fall" that the money will continue and that the commission cannot adopt a final work program until that affirmation is received.
A motion to adopt the work program and Resolution 2025-3 passed on recorded votes. Commissioners voting yes included Commissioner Altman, Commissioner Dooley, Commissioner Howard, Commissioner Short and Chair Greenough; Policy Advisory member Tasha Alstrand voted in the committee portion and participated in advisory discussions.
The executive director said staff will amend the overall work program in September to reflect the detailed allocation of the added funds and that partners—particularly the county—were involved in identifying near-term projects that would use the money.
The commission also approved routine consent items by a single motion earlier in the meeting, including minutes from March 12, 2025, and a resolution authorizing the executive director to execute documents and administer the regional surface transportation program exchange.
The commission reconvened as the Del Norte Local Transportation Commission and approved the policy advisory committee’s recommendations by poll vote.
