UN secretary-general meets Danish leaders and UN system heads in Copenhagen, attends royal welcome

The United Nations secretary-general visited Denmark for the UN chief executives board meeting, met with Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, toured UN City and will attend a royal-hosted welcome dinner, the UN said.
Stephanie Tremblay, associate spokesperson for the United Nations, said in the noon briefing that the secretary-general was in Copenhagen to chair a meeting of the UN chief executives board, which brings together heads of the UN system.
Tremblay said the secretary-general met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and "expressed his appreciation for Denmark's steadfast cooperation with and support for the United Nations, including for its role as host of UN agencies" and its "constructive role as a non permanent member of the Security Council." She said the secretary-general toured UN City — the UN compound in Copenhagen — and during a town hall "congratulated the staff for the work they are doing."
Tremblay said the secretary-general and heads of the UN system will attend a welcome dinner hosted by the king and queen of Denmark. She also told reporters that Denmark raised the issue of Greenland during the meeting and that the secretary-general "reiterated his support for the charter and ... respect for territorial integrity, sovereignty, and also he reiterated the right of people to self determination."
