Council lists memorial, tennis agreement and multiple community events for Monday action

Staff described the DAR design as an elegant stone relief with a central plaque and said the organization would undertake roughly $30,000 of fundraising to cover construction if council approves placement and siting in coordination with Parks and Recreation. Parks and Rec reviewed the design and staff recommended listing the item for council consideration on Monday.
The borough also presented a request to extend a 2019 agreement with Greater Pottstown Tennis and Learning for another five years under the same terms, reflecting the association's past investment in resurfacing, fencing and other court improvements; staff recommended listing the renewal for Monday action.
Staff listed multiple community-events and permit items for council action, including hosting the Schuylkill River Sojourn (June 17 evening event), a beer garden for the Pottstown Rumble, amended date and street closure for the Ann Bucks Soapbox Derby (June 14 with rain date June 15), the July 4 parade (10:30 a.m. start), a Juneteenth community worship service and street closure (1–7 p.m.), and a Halloween parade (Oct. 25 with rain date Oct. 26). Staff said there were no objections to the requests and the items will be placed on the Monday agenda.
Ending: Council will consider the DAR memorial authorization, the tennis-agreement extension and the listed event permits at the next council meeting; staff said the DAR would fundraise the proposed $30,000 and Parks and Rec would coordinate siting.
