Resident asks council for clear accounting of sewer capacity and development reservations ahead of bond discussion

During the public-comment portion of Tuesday’s meeting, resident Tyson Sparrow asked the council for detailed, public information about current wastewater capacity, how many equivalent units (EUs) are in use, and how many are reserved by development agreements that are inactive or stagnant.
Sparrow said the information is pertinent as the city considers research into a potential bond and whether reserved capacity from dormant agreements could affect the need or size of borrowing. “As a taxpayer, if we have resources that are pulled over here for stuff that’s not happening, why are we paying for stuff over here that is yet to happen,” Sparrow said. He requested that the city publish current EU usage, reserved capacity tied to development agreements, and related data on the city website.
Council members acknowledged the request and said staff will follow up; one council member observed the city is preparing research on a possible bond and that clearer capacity accounting would help public understanding and decision-making.
Staff did not provide a detailed EU inventory during the meeting and said the matter would require staff follow-up to compile accurate figures and reconcile reserved development-agreement allocations.
